A budget proposal that would conclude the longest government shutdown in American history is advancing toward the House of Representatives for a critical decision on Wednesday.

On day 43 of the political impasse, congressional members are coming back to Washington to decide whether to endorse a upper chamber proposal that would support government departments for two months.

Majority party officials expressed confidence the spending plan would pass through the House of Representatives, despite their narrow majority. But Democratic leadership vowed to oppose it.

"We're restoring our nation," he declared on Tuesday at a patriotic gathering in the Virginia suburb. "Should have never been closed."

Effects of the Shutdown

The funding gap, which commenced on October 1st, has caused a million federal workers missing wages, stopped nutrition assistance for those in financial need, and disrupted aviation for passengers ahead of the family gathering season.

The House is set to gather again at 16:00 EST (evening universal time) to have a brief deliberation period on the legislation before a decision.

Democratic Opposition

House Democratic minority leader the minority leader of the Empire State pledged to oppose the proposal.

But the Texas representative of Texas said he was "unaware of any opposition of significance" to the proposal from fiscal hawks in his conservative group.

Potential Republican defectors the Kentucky representative of the Bluegrass State or Victoria Spartz of her district have kept quiet so far on how they intend to decide.

But if they ultimately vote against leadership, the presiding officer could possibly secure approval with the assistance from pragmatic minority representatives, such as Jared Golden of his New England district or the Texas Democrat of the southern state.
