The Gunners' Debated Partnership Agreement with Visit Rwanda Set to End Next Year

Arsenal Football Club has officially announced that its disputed sponsorship agreement with Visit Rwanda will terminate in June of next year.

The partnership, said to be worth around ten million pounds each year, was first established and has since faced significant scrutiny.

Such scrutiny arises from the country's reported backing for the M23 forces in persistent fighting in the eastern areas of the adjacent DRC.

Months ago, Arsenal faced allegations of committing a disrespectful act to the government of the DRC by not arranging a meeting with the DRC's foreign minister to address the sponsorship.

Visit Rwanda operates as a branch of the the country's development agency, which is a state institution.

Many speculate that Arsenal signed and upheld this partnership mainly to grow their following across the continent.

Nevertheless, the partnership has now terminated after both parties “mutually agreed” to end their collaboration.
