Spurs Manager Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not Genuine Supporters'
The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Raise Tension on the Manager
Spurs supporters who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "they can't be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.
Tottenham conceded two goals in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, marking their 10th top-flight at home defeat of 2025.
However the primary talking point was the visitors' next score when Vicario lost the ball well beyond his box.
The goalkeeper ventured out to handle a high pass and carried the ball near the sideline.
However, rather than booting it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by King.
The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.
Moments afterwards when the ball went to the keeper once more, some Spurs supporters booed him.
Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.
A particular of those booing episodes truly irritated Frank.
"I heard a few of our fans apparently booed the situation and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager commented regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.
"Those individuals can't be true Spurs supporters that do that. Fair enough booing after the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are behind each other going forward."
Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute lead before Harry Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second-half performance.
Ex- Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the next goal was "totally preventable".
"I certainly understand the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He's a great squad member, he's a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.
"He was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the winning goal."
'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game
Italy international the keeper is in his third campaign with Tottenham.
The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to accept the feedback.
"The second score was a mistake of my own, I take responsibility for that," he said.
"The intent was to kick the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. It was an even bigger challenge to climb."
He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the crowd. The fans have the entitlement to do as they see fit.
"It's on the team to remain increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and calmness to overturn results. Today is a bad loss and it is tough to take."
'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Line'
In spite of Vicario's error, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to score.
In fact it was the next longest-range top division score of the season – following Adams' 43.3 yard strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally also came on Saturday.
Wilson stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty goal to target.
Ten seconds passed between Vicario coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was five moments after the kick.
"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the area for ages," Wilson said.
"I was surprised none of the back four returned to the goal line. When not one of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a little additional opportunity. After that it was solely about trying to achieve the right contact and place it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, the moment it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."
'When You're in a Poor Run, All Appears to Go Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager
Although the keeper's error dominated coverage, this was an all-round poor day for Tottenham to extend their home ground woes.
This was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a shared club statistic along with 1994 and 2003.
The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and title holders Liverpool to come prior to the end of the year.
Just a single of those victories have occurred after the manager took over from his predecessor in the summer.
"If you are down 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated Frank.
"During in a poor run, everything seems to go against you as well – the opening was a redirected shot, the next is a error from the keeper.
"This result leaves us in a position where we have lost another match. Each fixture has a unique narrative, today we lost in the first six minutes.
"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was much better and hopefully something we can utilize to learn."
Spurs have been defeated in 4 straight home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.
And they are averaging nine point five shots and three point two shots on target per match in the division – their lowest averages on record in a one campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Ex- Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He must take the stick," Murphy said. "He has taken a prestigious role at a major football club with massive anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.
"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
