Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.

At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
