Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.
Official Complaints Currently Not on File
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
