Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in chaos and mayhem with equal excitement, all while telling captivating, socially charged narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose projects have embodied all of those things.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' format by introducing a new location and group of personalities in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their constant belief and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the core of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our common bold, ambitious style to the television.”

A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
